Passford House
Passford House is an exceptional modern house, constructed to a high specification, built by the present owners and completed in August 2006. Kingsdown is a small hamlet, situated to the east of Bath, nestling in the hillside above the Box Valley (Box Tunnel -- Isambard Brunel) with breathtaking views both toward and around Bath. The proprietors, David and Margaret, opened the doors of their home to paying guests in October 2008. It is their intention to deliver a standard of excellence ; so frequently advertised and yet so rarely found. Everything about the house is large and each bedroom is presented in immaculate condition. The decor, the furnishings and the linen ooze quality, ensuring a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. The bathrooms are lovely with plenty of hot water and soft towels. The twenty foot square kitchen, which leads into the gabled conservatory, includes a kitchen table which is laid for breakfast when there are only two or three guests at home ; in busier times the formal dining room is laid up and our guests enjoy their breakfast in the company of other guests. However, should you prefer to dine alone, just say so!! n.b. David prepares the breakfast -- it's very very good. Passford House is ideally situated to enjoy the magnificent City of Bath, with all that it embraces and has on offer. For " the super fit' --a fast trot down the hill to Bathford, a gallop along the river bank, cross over to the canal towpath and you soon emerge in Bath ,close to The Recreation Ground -- the home of Bath Rugby; or you can walk down the hill and catch one of the frequent buses into the city centre -There are many renowned and expensive eateries in and around Bath for that special occasion. Likewise there are many local hostelries that offer " fine fayre " at reasonable prices; such as The Crown at Bathford; The Swan at Kingsdown,The Longs Arms at South Wraxall and The Bear at Box, to name just a a few. PLEASE NOTE> :At present, we do not have a credit card facility and ask to be paid with cash or by cheque. We also ask guests to take off their shoes upon entering our home; - so bring your favourite slippers!!! The Castle Inn
Welcome to The Castle Inn, a beautiful freehouse pub with boutique bedrooms with stunning views over the Georgian roof tops of the pretty town of Bradford on Avon & beyond to Salisbury Plain & the Westbury White Horse. Just 7 miles from the historic city of Bath, The Castle is set in a characterful Georgian building & has traded as an Inn for some 160 years. Lovingly, sympathetically & imaginatively restored in 2007 The Castle has a playful eccentricity that is Cluedo country house meets traditional country pub. From morning 'til night, The Castle is at your service, whether for morning coffee, light lunch, 3-course dinner or just a pint of local beer. Internally the pub is essentially split into 2 areas with a total of 90 covers. The dominant features of the main bar area to the left of the entrance, with its flagstone floor & lime washed walls, are the magnificent reclaimed mahogany bar & large open fireplace. To the right of the entrance are three interconnecting rooms, with elm floorboards, fireplaces, exposed stone walls, gazelle heads, old gents club paintings, scrub top tables & comfortable, worn club chairs. Externally is a large, sunny lawned garden with flagstone terrace & seating for a further 80 covers & magnificent far-reaching views towards Salisbury Plain. Our 4 generously proportioned bedrooms are more luxury boutique hotel than traditional bed & breakfast. The rooms have a contemporary opulence blended with bags of original character & all of the essentials to meet the needs of a discerning roamer. Our 4 generously proportioned bedrooms, with their wonky doorframes, undulating walls and period fireplaces have been sympathetically restored. Whilst the rooms still retain their unique 250-year old character we have also added a big fat dollop of 'luxurious boutique' to meet the needs of the modern day sleeper. Each room has been finished to the highest standards, to include: - A Super King size bed (6ft wide)* Flat screen TV Luxury en suite with watering can size shower head & under floor heating *Room 3 has a King size bed
